Future Folklore

A sensory practice

I work through future folklore; using imagination, research and the senses to explore how we might inhabit new futures and connect with the world in different ways.

Sensory Breakdown:

Sound — listening to places, systems, and more-than-human voices
Sight — immersive worlds, speculative storytelling, spatial imagination
Touch — participation, collaboration, collective making
Smell — memory, atmosphere, what lingers in place
Taste — ritual, culture, what we absorb and pass on

Non-Linear Worldbuilding

My way of working is non-linear and neurodivergent. I often write, compose and research at the same time, moving across siloes until a world starts to grow. ADHD supports this process: hyperfocus, pattern recognition and sensory curiosity become tools for worldbuilding.

Writing with Sound

I don’t treat sound as something that gets added at the end. Writing and composing happen at the same time; sound is a narrative collaborator and is part of every moment of life. This approach lets stories become immersive, spatial and sensorial from the start.
